It is open most days from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and includes a wide variety of permanent and rotating exhibits. Most exhibits are aimed at adult visitors, but there are also interactive exhibits for kids to enjoy.

  • Hollywood Cemetery –412 South Cherry Street, Richmond, VA 23220
    Hollywood Cemetery
    , perched on the bluffs overlooking the James River, is one of Richmond's most scenic and historic sites to explore in winter. Its winding paths, towering trees and intricate statuary create a peaceful retreat, particularly when dusted with frost or after a light snowfall. The cemetery is the final resting place for notable figures, including U.S. Presidents James Monroe and John Tyler, as well as Virginia governors, authors and influential Richmonders.


  • 1812 Wickham House – 1015 East Clay Street, Richmond, VA 23219
    1812 Wickham House is a neoclassical-style home erected just steps away from the State Capitol on behalf of prominent local lawyer John Wickham and wife Elizabeth. Carefully preserved over the years thanks to tireless efforts from thousands of volunteers, it now offers a window into the complexities of 19th-century Richmond.

  • American Civil War Museum – 480 Tredegar Street, Richmond, VA 23219
    American Civil War Museum is the largest and most prominent of the Civil War museums here in the United States. It is the place to go to see Civil War exhibits and memorabilia that you simply cannot find elsewhere in the world. The Museum sits on the former site of the Tredegar Iron Works.

  • Armour House and Gardens – 4001 Clarendon Road, Henrico, VA 23223
    Armour House and Gardens is a Victorian style home famed for beautiful gardens that display the rich floral diversity of the local area. There is a scenic walking trail open to the public that allows visitors to see much of the grounds, including the famed gardens, children's gardens, fountains, and arbors.

  • Ashland Theatre – 205 England Street, Ashland, VA 23005
    Ashland Theatre is a historic American "movie palace" that captures the Golden Age of the Silver Screen in a truly historic and sumptuous surrounding. Operated on a nonprofit basis, it originally opened in 1948 and was privately operated until the 1990s. It was donated in 2013 and reopened in 2017 after refurbishment.

  • Battery Dantzler Park – 1820 Battery Dantzler Road, Chesterfield, VA 23836
    Battery Dantzler Park commemorates one of the most talked about locations in Virginia's Civil War battles. In January of 1865, the Battle of Trent's Reach went down in history as one of the war's last naval actions, and it all took place right here at the foot of Battery Dantzler.
