Symphony Richmond
There's something magical about watching a symphony perform. Not only is the music captivating, but it's incredible to see so many musicians playing together in perfect harmony.

The Richmond area is lucky to be home to the Richmond Symphony, the largest performing arts organization in the state of Virginia. The symphony was founded in 1957, and their 2024 season is shaping up to be one of their best. Throughout the summer, they'll be hosting a number of Summer Chamberfest sessions. We suggest taking a break from looking at Richmond homes for sale so you can attend. Here's a bit more information about the performances.

  • Location, Dates, and Time
There will be four Summer Chamberfest sessions in 2024. They'll all take place at the Dominion Energy Center at 600 E. Grace St., Richmond, VA 23219. These evening sessions are intended to be small and intimate. They'll be held in Mooney Hall, which is on the first floor. The shows are scheduled for the following dates and times:
    • Thursday, July 11, from 6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.
    • Thursday, July 18, from 6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.
    • Thursday, July 25, from 6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.
    • Wednesday, July 31, from 6:30 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.

  • Performance Details
At these performances, you should plan on hearing music that dates back centuries. There will be a good blend of soothing and up-tempo numbers. Mooney Hall is a relatively small venue, so you'll likely feel surrounded by the music as you listen. This sort of venue is perfect if you're someone who likes to watch the musicians expertly create music with their instruments.

  • Featured Performers
Summer Chamberfest performances will feature the following performers:
    • Stacy Matthews on violin
    • Adrian Pintea on violin
    • Stephen Schmidt on viola
    • Jason McComb on cello

  • About the Symphony
Often known as the RSO, the Richmond Symphony Orchestra is one of the most renowned orchestras in the nation. They are a non-profit organization, and they play several concert series throughout the year. The Summer Chamberfest performances only feature a small subsection of the orchestra's musicians. However, they'll have several full orchestra performances coming up in the fall and winter, and they're well worth attending.

  • Buying Tickets
You can buy tickets for any of the Summer Chamberfest sessions on the Richmond Symphony website. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. for the 6:30 p.m. shows. The series is sponsored by TCV Trust and Wealth Management. All seats at the venue are ADA-accessible.

  • Tips for Those Attending
If you do attend one or more of these Summer Chamberfest sessions, note that the entrance to Mooney Hall is located towards the middle of the building along Grace Street. Parking is available at several public lots in the area. Most charge between $8 and $12.

There are also some awesome restaurants near the theater. Consider enjoying dinner before or after the performance. Here are a few top suggestions:
