Summer Events

It's summer, and that means you can expect many festivals and events around Richmond homes for sale. Join our real estate agents at these fabulous events that promise fun for everyone.

  • 2nd Best Fest - Coalition Theater, 8 W. Broad St., Richmond, VA 23220
Scientific studies show that laughter can actually help you live longer. In that case, attending the 2nd Best Fest may grant you eternal life. For the seventh year, Coalition Theater is presenting a weekend filled with improv, sketch, and stand-up comedy to tickle your funny bone. Many of the acts feature local talent from right here in RVA. Some shows will be held at The Basement, a performance venue down the street from Coalition Theater. The festival takes place June 6-8. Visit the website for show times and ticket information.

  • Summer Kickoff Festival - Maymont, 1700 Hampton St., Richmond, VA 23220
Maymont, one of RVA's more beloved attractions, launches its 2024 season with the Summer Kickoff Festival. Lounge on Maymont's beautiful Carriage House Lawn as you take in two days of the city's top musical and dance acts. Performers include Full Moon Fever, a Tom Petty tribute band, and the Latin Ballet of Virginia. On Saturday, Richmond Represents Tent and Stage will feature dance and craft lessons along with other interactive opportunities. Food and beverage vendors are on hand on both days. Hours are 5 p.m. - 10 p.m. on June 7 and 11:30 a.m. - 10 p.m. on June 8. Admission to Maymont, which includes the festival, is $10-$20.

  • The Strange Market - Strangeways Brewing RVA, 3110 W. Leigh St., Richmond, VA 23230
Are the artisan gifts and accessories at most festivals just not unique enough for you? Then The Strange Market is right up your alley. Browse an eclectic assortment of handmade home decor items, artwork, jewelry, and apparel created by RVA's quirkier and more obscure artisans. Take a break for a refreshing IPA, sour, or specialty beer from Strangeways Brewing RVA. The Strange Market is scheduled for Sunday, June 16, from 1 p.m. - 6 p.m.

  • Richmond Flying Squirrels - The Diamond, 3001 N. Arthur Ashe Blvd., Richmond, VA 23230
If you're in search of a great family-friendly activity, look no further than America's pastime and the Richmond Flying Squirrels. The charming name is a result of crowd-sourcing, and the team's distinctive red and black logo has earned several awards. As the Double-A affiliate of MLB's San Francisco Giants, the Squirrels will be looking to build on momentum from 2023, when they won their division's second-half title. Home games are scheduled through September 8, and many feature fireworks, giveaways, and special themes. Visit the website for full schedule and pricing information.

  • Southern Food Festival - Center of the Universe Brewing Co., 11293 Airpark Rd., Ashland, VA 23005
Does it get any better than good food and good music on a sunny summer day? Not when you're attending the Southern Food Festival. Popular local providers such as Mama J's and Jake's Place will be serving up fried chicken, BBQ, and other iconic Southern foods. Meanwhile, James River Junction and Out of Uniform will keep the tunes flowing. Give the kids lots of quarters, as the COTU arcade will be open for business. The event also serves as a launch party for Spill the Tea, a new sweet tea-infused lager from COTU. Mark your calendar for 1 p.m. - 7 p.m. on Saturday, June 8. Admission is free.
