Outdoors Richmond

As we transition from summer into early fall, there's no better time to get out and enjoy nature in the Richmond area. Local parks are beautiful this time of year, and our real estate agents are eager to share their favorite places to get outside this season!

  • Libby Hill Park - 2801 E Franklin St, Richmond, VA 23223
One of three parks that made up Richmond's original park system, Libby Hill Park is best known for its exceptional view. Perched atop a hill overlooking downtown Richmond, it's one of the best places in town to watch a sunset. Libby Hill Park is also a prime picnic spot, with walking paths, mature trees, and a charming fountain providing an idyllic setting. This park's convenient location is within walking distance of many Richmond homes for sale

  • Huguenot Flatwater - 8600 Southampton Rd, Richmond, VA 23235
One of several linked parks that are collectively managed as the James River Parks, the 37-acre Huguenot Flatwater is an ideal place to enjoy all the recreational opportunities the river provides. This park offers access to one of the quieter stretches of the James River in Richmond, which makes it the perfect place for kayaking, canoeing, and lazy river float trips. Anglers commonly catch smallmouth bass and catfish here, and shoreline walking paths provide picturesque views of the river.

  • Forest Hill Park - 4021 Forest Hill Ave, Richmond, VA 23225
The 105-acre property that makes up Forest Hill Park has had a unique and eventful history over the last 300 years. During that time, it's been everything from a quarry to a sprawling estate to an amusement park. Today, it's a great place for visitors to enjoy some time in nature. Forest Hill Park includes winding footpaths that take visitors through a diverse landscape of woods, wetlands, and open meadows, and the park also includes tennis courts, picnic shelters, and a children's playground.

  • Pocahontas State Park - 10301 State Park Rd, Chesterfield, VA 23832
There may be no other park in the Richmond area with a wider range of outdoor recreation than Pocahontas State Park. Less than 20 miles from downtown Richmond and just minutes from these Chesterfield homes for sale, Pocahontas State Park spans nearly 8,000 acres, including 225-acre Swift Creek Lake. In addition to excellent fishing, swimming, and boating opportunities, the park offers over 90 miles of hiking and biking trails, plus accommodations ranging from tent and RV campsites to yurts and cabins.

  • Three Lakes Park & Nature Center - 400 Sausiluta Dr, Richmond, VA 23227
Located on the north side of Richmond, Three Lakes Park & Nature Center is a great place to bring kids who love the outdoors. In addition to its three namesake lakes, which are all open to fishing, the park includes a Nature Center with a variety of indoor and outdoor exhibits, including a 50,000-gallon aquarium populated by native fish and amphibians.

  • Belle Isle - 1701 Riverside Dr, Richmond, VA 23225
Another excellent James River park in the heart of Richmond, Belle Isle, offers year-round recreation opportunities. This park is one of the city's great swimming holes in summer, with flat rocks that are ideal for sunbathing. Miles of mountain biking trails provide an adrenaline rush, and old granite walls are popular for climbing. It's also a popular fishing spot. A combination of natural river scenery and historic structures makes Belle Isle one of Richmond's most unique parks.
